The Five-Second Coming Parables
I will soon post an overview of each parable, in the meantime, you can seek what Jesus taught yourself
- The Watchful Servant – Luke 12:35-38; Mark 13:33-37
- Burglar – Luke 12:39-40; Matt. 24:42-44
- Servant Entrusted with the Household – Matt. 24:45-51; Luke 12:41-46 – 1 Thess 5:2-4; II Peter 3;10; Rev.3:3; 16:15; Matt 24:38,39
- The Ten Virgins – Matt. 25:1-13 Matt 7:21-23
- Talents – Matt. 25:14-30; Luke 19:11-27
For each parable ask the question
a) Who was the audience that Jesus told the parable too?
b) How did it relate to the situation Jesus was dealing with?
c) What was the purpose of the parable, what is the overall message being told?
d) Are there specific details within the parable that give us more information regarding the means, time or events yet to occur at His second coming?
What we learned
- Christ coming will be sudden and at an unexpected time
- We must always be prepared.
- We must be willing to endure.
- We must not slip back into sin.
- We must continue to work
- Let us be watching and waiting, hastening the return of our Master.
