Things Leaders Need to Avoid
1) Not understanding what a leader really is…. Leaders, lead.
2) Seeking to not to be a leader. We all want to be liked. As a leader, being liked must come secondary to meeting the needs of your those under you.
3) Complaining to the group. Your group does not benefit from hearing you complain. If you are upset about something, discuss it to resolve it or deal with it – but never cry to your group about it.
4) Thin Skin. As a leader, your qualities must include the ability to stay above the fray. Don’t take things personally. Don’t allow discouragement to prevent you from leading.
5) Not Appreciating your People. Value those who you lead. Appreciate that we are all at different levels and at different places in our spiritual lives.
6) Allow people to push me into wrong decisions – Being intimidated
7) Forgetting GNS Principle (God’s not Stupid) time, effort, sin, motives- Winging It -Not spiritually prepared for the spiritual task.
8) Starting out with low expectations. We have been hurt so many times, yet, we must not lower our expectations to prevent from being hurt.
9) Thinking that Godliness is Busyness
10) Thinking problems will go away if left alone. They won’t they only get worse, always nip them in bud
11) Not understanding that not all that glitters is Gold – Not all “nice” people are Christians
